Βιβλίο για μια κάπως "άγνωστη" πτυχή του αεροπορικού πολέμου στο Βιετνάμ.
Την αδρανοποίηση (SEAD) και καταστροφή (DEAD) των Β. Βιετναμέζικων αντιαεροπορικών πυραύλων.
Οι οποίοι αντιαεροπορικοί πύραυλοι ήταν κάτι νέο και εξαιρετικά επικίνδυνο για την αεροπορική υπεροχή της USAF στην περιοχή.
Οι μονάδες εκείνες (και η δράση τους) ήταν ιστορικής σημασίας διότι καθόρισαν (και έγραψαν) το εγχειρίδιο για το πως γίνονται οι σύγχρονες SEAD-DEAD αποστολές.
Διδάγματα που έπειτα από λίγα χρόνια οι Ισραηλινοί θα ξαναμάθουν (ή ρεαλιστικότερα θα διδαχτούν από τους συμβούλους της USAF) στους αραβο-ισραηλινούς πολέμους.
Τώρα όσον αφορά το βιβλίο, είναι καλογραμμένο με καλή ροή - συνήθως - και πολύ καλές και αξιόπιστες πληροφορίες (από συνεντεύξεις γαρ).
Εκεί που χωλαίνει είναι ότι χώνει κατεβατά για τον πόλεμο του Βιετνάμ για να δώσει το υπόβαθρο. Όμως ούτε είναι αρκετά αναλυτικά να έχουν αξία, ούτε μικρά ώστε να μην δημιουργούν κοιλιά.
Έτσι έχεις σημαντικά μέρη του βιβλίου που η ροή αλλάζει και χάνεις το νόημα του βιβλίου σε ένα άχρηστο context.
Πέραν αυτών, είναι εξαιρετικό βιβλίο, γεμάτο δράση και πολύ περιεχόμενο που δύσκολα βρίσκεις αλλού.
Βέβαια ως τόσο ειδικευμένο δεν είναι για τον αναγνώστη που απλά θέλει μια γενική εικόνα για τον αεροπορικό πόλεμο (ή γενικά τον πόλεμο) στο Βιετνάμ.
Έτσι είναι πολύ niche για τον μέσο αναγνώστη θα έλεγα.
